Hi De Hi Poster v3 WEBSITE 236x334.jpg

This was a stage adaptation of the hugely popular British TV series, which revisits the 1950's and Maplins Holiday Camp with its host of colourful characters.

It's the start of a new season and founder Joe Maplin announces that he is setting up a camp in the Bahamas and needs female yellowcoats to go and work there. The annual "Miss Yellowcoat" competition will decide who. Imagine the rivalry! Camp cleaner Peggy, meanwhile, is thrilled at the prospect of a vacancy for a new yellowcoat and convinces Entertainments Manager Jeffrey that she is the ideal candidate for the job. Ted is forced to employ numerous money-making schemes when his ex wife turns up at the camp with a bailiff in tow and Yvonne and Barry Stuart-Hargreaves send the rumour mill into its usual overdrive when Gladys is overheard escorting Jeffrey into his chalet late one evening. Hi-de-hi, campers!

We even had an extra from the show come and see us!!

A tale of a girl, three bears and some porridge... and much more! The traditional Goldilocks story is given a new slant in this pantomime tale. An evil queen bee is up to no good in the woodland, planning global domination for her wicked swarm and now she has a secret weapon... a potent hypno-honey. Soon a battle is underway for control of the wood with Goldilocks and her friends in the thick of it. Lots of silliness, jokes (old and new!) and daft characters in this family show with plenty of audience participation!

This was the most successful Panto of recent years, even surviving a power cut through the Matinee performance! The Debenham Players family is going from strength to strength, this is apparent from their enthusiasm, quality of the performances and production show the actors also have a great team behind the scenes.

'Allo 'Allo was the June 2013 summer show directed by Tony Stokes with Rachel Farquhar assisting directing and producing.

"Listen very carefully, I will say this only once..."

The Sell-out show took the guests (audience) of Café Rene back to World War II France in the stage production of the TV cult comedy classic ‘Allo ‘Allo!

Rene and his waitresses may still be caught up in the hunt for the fallen Madonna with the big you know what’s, but Debenham Players made this show fresh and hugely entertaining - especially the scene featuring a punctured rubber Hitler! Stuffed full of ingenious one-liners and compromising situations, impressively delivered by a cast who had obviously worked so hard for over many months.

The energy and enthusiasm was obvious from everyone involved, members new, present and returning brought this brilliant show to life and guests were treated to French bread, cheeses, wine and a programme for only £10...!

Beauty & the Beast was our 2013 Panto, directed by Oliver Hallpike

It was the well-known story of Belle and the selfish young Prince who fell foul of an evil Countess and was doomed to spend eternity hidden in his castle in the guise of a grotesque beast. Can anyone ever love such a beast and unlock the cruel spell?

In this version written by Bradford & Webster, it was a traditional family pantomime with a spectacular re-telling of this enchanting story. You couldn’t possibly miss the glamorous Dame Dolly and her ‘beautiful’ other daughters Chard’nay and Lambrini?

You would have met a host of other characters including the arrogant Jean-Claude and hard working Papa & Gigi (‘Burgers’) the horse!

Calendar Girls1.jpg

Calendar Girls was directed by Cyndi Ponder, this was the stage adaptation of Tim Firth's smash-hit film and we raised over £2,500 for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research.

A group of extraordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, spark a global phenomenon by persuading one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference! As interest snowballs, they find themselves revealing more than they'd ever planned...

A very British story, with a very British heart, it is based on an uplifting and very inspiring true story that is quirky, poignant and hilarious!

Pinocchio was our sellout 2012 Panto, directed by Chris Walters & Tony Stokes who went back to a traditional pantomime story.

Pinocchio is the timeless story of a wooden boy made by Gepetto the toymaker, who after being brought to life by the blue fairy sets out to become a real boy… guided by his concience Jimmy the Cricket, mislead by Mr & Mrs Salami & hindered somewhat by Mario & Luigi… throw in Dame Maria, Princess Pearl the Mermaid and Don Coleone it was non stop laughter from start to finish!

This show raised over £505 for Bliss (for babies born too soon, too small or too sick) through 10% of ticket sales and the generosity of our audience!

Dr Jekyll & Miss Hyde was our 2011 Panto, a orginal script written by Sam Baxter, directed by Sam and Danny Ridealgh, comprising of 2 dames, Jackie Jekyll & Miss Hyde… plus a split stage for a new audience experience!

Jackie is banished from the village due to her alter-ego Miss Hyde; joined by her loyal friend Alice at Dr Jekyll’s castle with only the company of ‘Legs’, who was a head, but called ‘Legs’… With other characters like the doctors, Dr Why, Dr When, Dr How, Dr What & Dr No… (Dr Who went to the BBC…), Bodge-it & Fix-it, Mrs Thorney and her workshop, this brand new Panto amazed audiences with something different.
